Position Summary
Assistant Professor of Music specializing in teaching woodwind applied lessons (major
instrument flute with possibility of teaching double reeds) with other secondary areas
to be determined by candidate strengths and department needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach flute applied lessons, flute choir and other woodwind chamber music groups.
- Recruit and retain students for the flute studio and music department.
- Develop, teach, and assess undergraduate courses.
- Additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the Department Head based on departmental
needs and candidate strengths.
- Engage in continuous improvement of courses.
- Engage students in high-impact learning practices.
- Effectively advise and mentor students at the undergraduate level.
- Develop a sustainable scholarship program, including seeking external funds to support
the program.
- Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service to the
university, community, and state.
Master Degree in Music and two years of experience are required.
